A Long Overdue Update

Mother’s Day
Going back a few weeks, Mother’s Day for us as a family was great. We all went to church as a family for the first time in several years. Afterwords we had a quick lunch and then went to see the South Bay Civic Light Opera’s production of “Miss Saigon” at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center. Although the subject matter is pretty serious, we all had a good time enjoying the talent that was on stage. For dinner we went to Black Angus and enjoyed some great food and some great fun joking back and forth about various topics. Over all, it was great to spend the entire day together, enjoying each others company, as well as having the opportunity to get out of the house for the day.
Medical Update
After careful consideration, and as a result of the various blod tests, my Mom and Dr. Jilani (her Oncologist) made a decision to stop chemotherapy treatment for a month. The drug she was on had initially brough her CA125 (cancer count) down several hundred points, but unfortunately it didn’t bring it down far enough. With Mom’s CA125 hovering around the same numbers, and her quality of life being compromised due to repeated blood transfusions and breathing problems, it seemed best to give my Mom’s body a break from the chemo for the time being. One month from now she will be reevaluated to see if another drug is the answer or to discuss other options as to her treatment. For now she is using Oxygen to assist in her breathing and is generally taking it easy in her day to day schedule.
Prayer Requests
Here are some things that you can be praying for:
- That God would heal Mom completly and fully of this disease
- That God would give the Doctors wisdom and guidance in their decisions and treatment options
- That God would encourage our hearts as a family to continue fighting through this and other trials
- That God would give peace to our extended family as they are far away and feel as if they are unable to help
Thank you so much to all who check this blog everyday and are continually standing by our family in prayer, love and support of all kinds.
